Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to our website, which I hope will provide you with a glimpse of our school life.

I feel extremely proud and fortunate to be the headteacher of this wonderful school. I believe students, staff, and families who have had the privilege of being associated with St. Dominic’s will be able to identify how the school seems to engage, enthral and captivate all those who have been fortunate enough to have played a part in its amazing heritage.

We are an outstanding independent Catholic school, educating boys and girls from the age of 3 to 16, where children of all faiths are welcome.

We are ranked as one of the top performing non-selective schools in the area, which was recently highlighted when our students achieved excellent GCSE grades. 100% of them accomplishing 5 or more grades 4-9 and more impressively we are currently ranked 2nd performing school in Staffordshire against selective and non-selective schools for maths and English at GCSE.

I believe in challenging each student to achieve the best they are capable of and attribute the continued success of the school to my dedicated teaching staff, who go above and beyond, to ensure all our students reach their full potential.

I was very proud to have unveiled our brand-new teaching building in 2020. The new state of the art eco-friendly building provides three stories of high-tech classrooms, science laboratories, a performing arts studio, an art studio, a peripatetic music room and even a roof top classroom housing an eco-garden. The building sits alongside the Trent and Mersey canal and many classrooms have panoramic views of the water, giving the children a tranquil space in which to learn.

Our school creates a love of learning in a friendly and happy environment; we nurture individuality and an acceptance of others’ strengths and weaknesses, so each child is advised and guided to explore and pursue their own interests and encouraged to succeed in all that they want to achieve. This was recognised when we were awarded an ‘Excellent’, which is the top grade achievable by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and equivalent to outstanding in Ofsted terms.

A busy programme of sports, cultural events, speakers, visits, clubs, and activities enhance school life. There is something for everyone at St. Dominic’s!
