Congratulations to Joyella Jeffries who has enjoyed some amazing athletics achievements over the summer season 2023. Joyella has been competing in athletics for the last four years and is going from strength to strength.
Joyella represented our school at the Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) Regional and then National Athletics Championships and came 1st at both events. This made her the U15 300m ISA National Gold Medal Champion.
Joyella also won the U15 Staffordshire County Schools Athletics Championships 300m track event at Northwood Stadium.
She was then selected to represent Staffordshire in the prestigious Mason Trophy in July. The Mason Trophy is an intercounty event with 10 counties across Midlands and the North of England – Joyella came 1st in her heat and was awarded silver medal overall. At this event she also got a personal best time of running 300m in 41.98 seconds and set a new club record for the U15 girls at the City of Stoke Athletics Club she attends.
As a keen multi-eventer, she was also selected to represent Staffordshire Schools in the Regional Combined Events – U15 Pentathlon. This event included hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and 800m. Joyella got some personal bests at the event and came 10th out of 20.
Joyella was also chosen to be part of the county team representing Staffordshire in the 300m at the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) National Competition that was held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. During the season Joyella’s best national ranking across the UK was no. 24 in the U15 300m which is a refection of her hard work and dedication.
So what does the future hold for Joyella this season? I think you’ll agree, her star is shining bright.
